Alan (not his real name) came into Gable Healthcare Services after suffering a severe head injury as a result of a road traffic accident.
During Alan's initial referral to our services he experienced difficulty with continence at night. He had lost many basic skills with self-care and this had resulted in a debilitating loss of confidence. His ability to self-motivate was severely impaired and required constant support and encouragement. Currently we are attended to his physical needs. As he lost the use of his body, we are maintaining his dignity with gentle humour and the greatest compassion.
Our carers visits three times a day ,to clean him, help him to the commode, make his bed and make him comfortable, always with infinite patience and gentleness. Each day, the nurses and GPs monitored his medication, helped us think clearly through the fog of emotion and provide every gadget and facility they could think of.
We work in partnership with other agencies to provide joined up services and minimise the intrusion into the service user's life.
We involve the service user and their family in the assessment and planning for the care service
